Two classical signs are associated with this tumor. In this post, we will discuss: * Hitzelberger Sign * Ice Cream Cone Sign --- ### Hitzelberger Sign #### 📌 Type of Sign 👉 Clinical Sign seen during **Sensory examination of the ear canal**. #### 🔍 What is the Sign? Hitzelberger Sign refers to **Hypoesthesia (reduced sensation) of the posterior wall of the external auditory canal**. Seen in **Acoustic Neuroma**. ⭐ It is a **very early clinical sign** of acoustic neuroma. #### 🩺 How is it Elicited? The examiner gently touches the **posterior canal wall** with a probe or cotton wisp. Sensation is **compared on both sides**. #### 🧠 Why Does it Occur? The posterior wall of the external auditory canal is supplied by the sensory fibers of the **Facial nerve**. In acoustic neuroma, the tumor **compresses the sensory fibers of Facial nerve very early**.
