Welcome to The ENT Resident

Hi, I'm Dr. Mausumi Das - ENT Surgeon, Educator and Artist.

I run a YouTube channel called The ENT Resident where I break down complex ENT concepts into easy-to-understand, exam-relevant lessons through videos, visuals, and notes.

This website is my way of extending that mission - to engage and support inquisitive minds in ENT with clarity, curiosity, and a dash of creativity.

🎓 About Me

I hold an M.S. in Otorhinolaryngology from Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad.

My ENT journey began during my undergraduate years at WBUHS, where I was captivated by the subject from the very first lecture - delivered, serendipitously, by my future mentor, Dr. Dwaipayan Mukherjee.

His witty remark that “ENT appears twice in the word ENTertainmENT” left a lasting impression - and set the course for my future.

✨ My Journey So Far

During my Junior Residency, I found myself naturally drawn toward diagnosis and surgery. That one year shaped my clinical confidence and deepened my love for ENT. I later secured a residency at Gandhi Hospital, where I honed my surgical skills and academic rigor even further.

Along the way, I also discovered a love for teaching. What began as peer discussions slowly evolved into The ENT Resident - my YouTube channel where I simplify ENT for MBBS and PG students across India.

After a long period of procrastination (and a few midnight “I should just start this” moments), I finally launched my YouTube channel - and now this companion website - to reach medical students across the world.

  • 🥇 Smt. Anuka Banerjee Memorial Medal – State Topper (Gold Medalist) in Surgery (MBBS).
  • 🥈 Gouri Sankar Memorial Medal – State Topper (Gold Medalist) among female candidates in Surgery.
  • 🎖️ Honours in - Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Community Medicine, Medicine, Surgery, and OBG.
  • 🧠 Former Senior Prosector in Anatomy and Class Assistant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

🎨 Beyond Medicine

I'm a multi-faceted person with a passion for art, music, and cooking. When I'm not immersed in ENT, I’m probably:

  • ✏️ Sketching for my art channel: Art By Mausumi
  • 👩‍🎨 Practicing caricature and digital art - I hold a degree in Fine Art.
  • 🎤 Singing Indian Classical - Diploma holder – Sangeet Bhaskar Part 1.
  • 💃 Dancing - Trained in Odissi and Kathak.
  • 🍜 Experimenting in the kitchen or binge-watching Netflix.

I believe my love for anatomy and medical diagrams is rooted in my background in art. Whether it’s a surgical video or a histology sketch, I try to make every explanation visual, memorable, and meaningful.
